Polyvine Acrylic Size Metal Leaf Adhesive

Polyvine Acrylic Size Metal Leaf Adhesive is a specialist adhesive for bonding all metal foils and leaf - gold, silver and Dutch metal to a variety of interior surfaces. Ideal for use on furniture, plaster mouldings, picture frames and decoratives features.

Ensure that all surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, grease, wax, polish and any other surface contaminants.

1. Where necessary, surfaces should be rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper
2. Fill any holes and imperfections with a suitable multi-purpose filler
3. Remove all traces of sanding dust before application
4. Take special precautions during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
5. Prime porous surfaces with Polyvine Decorators Varnish, diluted with 10% water

Please Note: Any defects or marks in the substrate will show in the surface of the leaf or foil, so ensure prepared surface is as smooth as required, with all imperfections filled.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability, colour and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

1. Apply thinly and evenly using a good quality brush, ensuring no brush marks are visible
2. Polyvine Acrylic Size Metal Leaf Adhesive can be diluted with water to avoid brush marks
3. Leave the brushed surface for at least 15 minutes - The film will become clear and remain tacky
4. The surface will remain open for metal leaf and foils to adhere for up to 24 hours
5. Allow at least 24 hours drying time
6. Avoid dust and dirt in and around the working area
7. Ensure the entire prepared surface is covered with the leaf/foils, as the surface will remain in an indefinate tacky state

Cleaning Equipment

Application equipment can be cleaned using soap and water. Once cleaned, allow to dry naturally.

We would recommend Imitation Gold/ Silver be protected with Polyvine Multi-Surface Lacquer.
