Preparation

Preparation

Back

To the best results, ensure surfaces to be coated are free from all poorly adhering or defective material, are structurally sound and clean from dirt, grease, rust or paint.

  • Apply dust sheets to protect any surfaces that are to remain unpainted
  • Flaking or loose rust, paint or debris will need to be removed prior to coating, either by sanding, or with using a wire brush or light blast cleaning
  • On a previously painted surface, lightly abrade and then clean with a suitable detergent, thoroughly rinse and allow to dry
  • Repair any imperfections in the surface, such as holes and cracks, with a suitable metal filler and allow to harden
  • Lightly abrade smooth metal surfaces to form a sound key. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry

Please Note:

  • In the case of new galvanised steel, let the surface weather until dull and then prepare the substrate with the instructions above

  • Mix and stir the paint before applying, ensuring to work the base and sides of the tin to help a consistent mix
  • Apply using a good quality microfibre roller or synthetic brush
  • For best results, 2 thin coats are recommended
  • Dilution is not required as the paint is supplied at the correct consistency
  • Leave 4 hours drying time between coats
