Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint is a mineral-based flat matt paint developed for projects where breathability and a traditional finish are important. Its Class 1 vapour-open formulation makes it particularly suited to heritage buildings and older properties, allowing moisture vapour to pass through the painted surface. Once fully cured, Class 1 wet scrub resistance provides the durability required for domestic and commercial interiors.
Suitable for interior walls and ceilings, lime plaster, new and previously painted plaster, plasterboard, dry lining, brick, gypsum, interior fillers, prefabricated boards and suitably primed wallpaper. Absorbent, repaired or non-porous surfaces should be treated with the appropriate primer before painting. This product is not suitable for exterior surfaces or areas in permanent contact with water.

Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease and other contaminants before applying Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint.
Take special care when removing or disturbing pre-1960s paint, as it may contain harmful levels of lead. Seek specialist advice if you are unsure.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability, compatibility and final appearance. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the container at all times.
As Grpahenstone GCS Interior is a mineral-based-based paint, slight variations may occur between colours and batches. Avoid starting a new container in the middle of a wall and when several tins are required, intermix them before use to maintain a consistent colour across the entire surface.
Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint will be fully dry after approximately 24 hours under suitable conditions. However, the finish will continue to cure and will achieve its full Class 1 wet scrub resistance after around 30 days.
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint.
Why is Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint suitable for heritage buildings? Its mineral-based, Class 1 vapour-open formulation allows moisture vapour to pass through the painted surface. This makes it particularly suitable for older and heritage properties where maintaining the breathability of compatible walls is important.
Yes, providing the existing coating is sound, clean, dry and firmly adhered. Glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded and a test area completed before painting. Existing non-breathable coatings may restrict the overall breathability of the finished system.
Yes. It can be used on compatible mineral surfaces, including lime and gypsum plaster. New mineral substrates should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days, while highly absorbent surfaces may require Graphenstone Ambient Primer before painting.
Graphenstone GrafClean Matt Paint or Graphenstone GrafClean Eggshell are recommended for areas of higher wear such as kitchens or bathrooms. Protect the freshly painted surface from condensation and water for 4-5 days and do not use it on surfaces that remain in permanent contact with water.
Once fully cured, it achieves Class 1 wet scrub resistance and can be carefully wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid cleaning or rubbing the surface during the first 30 days, as the paint will still be developing its full durability.
Apply 2 or 3 coats depending on the colour, substrate and condition of the surface. Maintain a wet edge during application and avoid applying the paint too thickly, as this can affect curing and cause micro-cracking.
At 25°C and 60% relative humidity, allow approximately 2-4 hours between coats and 24 hours for the paint to fully dry. Full curing and Class 1 wet scrub resistance are achieved after around 30 days. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will extend these times.
