Graphenstone Ambient Pro+ Air Purifying Matt Paint combines traditional lime paint with photocatalytic technology for projects where breathability and indoor air quality are important. It is particularly suited to homes, workplaces, educational buildings and other frequently occupied spaces. The ultra-matt appearance also makes it a practical option for period properties and contemporary interiors where a flat mineral finish is preferred.
Suitable for interior walls and ceilings, as well as exterior walls and masonry. Compatible surfaces include plaster, dry lining, brick, suitable renders and previously painted walls. Absorbent, repaired or non-porous surfaces should be treated with the appropriate primer before painting.

Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from dust, dirt, grease and other contaminants that could affect adhesion. Graphenstone Ambient Pro+ Air Purifying Matt Paint can be applied to interior walls and ceilings, exterior masonry, plaster, dry lining, brick, compatible renders and previously painted surfaces when correctly prepared.
We recommend trialling a test area before starting your project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Ambient Pro+ Air Purifying Matt Paint is alkaline when wet. Wear suitable protective gloves and eye protection during application and avoid contact with the skin and eyes.
Apply when the surrounding air and surface temperatures are between 7°C and 35°C and relative humidity is below 80%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight, on sun-warmed surfaces or when rain is expected.
When using more than one tin of the same colour or tins from different batches, combine and mix them before application to maintain an even colour across the complete surface.
Although Graphenstone Ambient Pro+ Air Purifying Matt Paint is fully dry after approximately 24 hours, it continues to cure and harden for around 30 days. Protect newly painted surfaces from rain, condensation, splashes and water for the first 4 to 5 days. Avoid rubbing, washing or cleaning the finish until it has fully cured.
Once fully cured, remove everyday marks with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild soapy solution for more persistent dirt and avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or excessive scrubbing that could affect the ultra-matt finish.
Exterior surfaces can be cleaned gently with a soft brush or low-pressure water when required. Treat any mould or algae with a suitable cleaner and allow the surface to dry completely.
Clean the damaged area and lightly sand any uneven edges. Remove all sanding dust, prime exposed or repaired surfaces where required and apply Ambient Pro+ in thin, even coats. Allow the repair to cure fully, as the colour and opacity may continue to develop during the first few days.
Here are some of the more commonly asked questions and answers about Graphenstone Ambient Pro+ Air Purifying Paint.
Ambient Pro+ uses photocatalytic technology activated by natural or artificial light. This helps the painted surface break down certain airborne pollutants and odour-causing compounds, including NOx, SOx, formaldehyde and some VOCs.
No. The photocatalytic process can be activated by natural or artificial light, although the painted surface must receive sufficient light. Areas that remain permanently dark may not provide the same air-purifying effect.
Yes. The pure lime base absorbs CO2 as it carbonates during the curing process. Most of this absorption takes place within the first 30 days and gradually reduces as the lime finishes curing.
Yes. Ambient Pro+ is suitable for correctly prepared interior walls and ceilings, as well as exterior walls, brickwork and compatible renders. It should not be applied to surfaces in permanent contact with water.
Yes. It achieves Class 1 breathability, allowing moisture vapour to pass through the painted surface. This makes it particularly suitable for mineral backgrounds and buildings where maintaining breathability is important.
Yes. Once fully cured, the paint achieves Class 1 wet-scrub resistance. Everyday marks can be removed with a soft, damp cloth, while abrasive cleaners and scouring pads should be avoided to protect the ultra-matt finish.
Graphenstone recommends applying 2 or 3 thin, even coats. Allow approximately 2 to 4 hours between coats. The paint is touch dry in around 1 hour and fully dry after 24 hours, although its opacity may continue to develop for 3 to 4 days.
