Earthborn Silicate Primer

Earthborn Ecopro Silicate Primer is a basecoat for use with Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint. It can be used to stabilise any mineral surface that is very absorbent or powdery.

The paint and primer together form a chemical bond with underlying materials to create a water and weather-resistant barrier which enables the building to "breathe".

It can be used on interior and exterior mineral surfaces, e.g. stone, masonry, concrete, pebble dash, plaster and sound silicate-based paint surfaces, and it's especially suitable for renovations.

Please Note: This primer is not suitable for use over gloss, lacquer, acrylic or oil-based paints.

Surfaces to be primed must be clean, dry, absorbent and free from dust, dirt, grease or any other surface contaminants.

• Remove all loose plaster
• Fill any gaps, cracks and holes with a suitable interior / exterior filler
• All coats of water-soluble distempers and lime paints must be removed or washed back to a sound surface before application of Silicate Primer
• All other surfaces should be washed down thoroughly
• Take care to mask all adjacent glass, metal and ceramic before use

Always do a test area including top-coat before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Do not use if the working temperature is below 8°C or expected to fall below 8°C within 24 hours of application.

1. Stir the primer thoroughly before and periodically during use
2. Apply the primer with a brush, roller or suitable spray system in a thin, even, well-spread coat
3. Allow 12 hours to dry before applying the top coat

Cleaning Equipment

Wash brushes and other application equipment immediately after use with warm water.

The Silicate System requires all surfaces to be primed with a single coat of Silicate Primer followed by two coats of Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint. The first coat of Masonry Paint must be diluted with 10-20% Silicate Primer.
