Overview
Dulux Trade Stain Block Primer is an effective treatment for stains caused by water-based and solvent-based inks, crayon, biro, coffee, grease, scuff marks, water and nicotine.
Please Note: When blocking stains caused by water or damp, make sure the original cause of the problem has been rectified.
Preparation
For the best results, ensure surfaces to be primed are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as efflorescence, dirt, grease or wax.
- Where necessary, surfaces should be rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper
- Fill any holes and imperfections with a suitable multi-purpose filler
- Remove all traces of sanding dust before application
- Take special precautions during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to check product suitability and effectiveness. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
This product is not suitable for spray application.
- Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use
- Apply Stain Block Primer with a good quality synthetic brush or microfibre roller
- Apply 1 full coat to all bare or stained surfaces
- Allow 7 hours to dry fully
- Apply a second coat for difficult stains if necessary
- Do not abrade (sand) Dulux Trade Stain Block Primer before applying a top coat
Finishing
Once fully dry, primed surfaces can be over-coated with one of the following Dulux Trade paints:
