Overview

Overview

Back

Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt is a high opacity washable matt emulsion that is suitable for interior walls and ceilings. Being specially formulated with premium quality pigments to generate a quality depth of tone and colour, it can produce a high quality finish that is resilient, enduring and long lasting.

Please Note: Dulux Heritage Testers are for use as a colour tester on interior walls and ceilings only. They are not recommended as a touch-up paint.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

To achieve the best quality results, establish that the surfaces are structurally sound, free of imperfections such as dust dirt or any other surface contaminants.

  • If the surface is new, then ensure the substrate is thoroughly dry before starting the steps of preparation
  • Remove all previously applied paint that is peeling, cracked or loose with either a paint scraper or by sanding the area smooth
  • Extra caution needs to be taken if removing paint that is pre 1960s as it could potentially contain harmful levels of lead
  • Any defects of the substrate, such as cracks or holes, need to be repaired with a suitable filler and then sanded down to a smooth finish
  • If required, sand the project area to produce a smooth and flat finish
  • If the project area is showing patches of oil and grease, then wash the area with a suitable detergent, rinse clean and then allow to dry
  • If the area is a newly plastered substrate or if the surface is either porous or dusty then apply an appropriate surface sealer

Application

Application

Back

Always perform a test area before starting any project to judge the suitability, effectiveness and finish of the product. Do not apply at temperatures below 7°C as this could seriously hamper the drying process.

  • It is recommended to use a good quality short pile microfibre roller and a high quality brush
  • Stir and blend the paint to ensure a good mixture of pigment and paint medium, taking care to work the sides and base of the tin
  • If being applied to a new surface, then dilute the first coat by 10% to counteract any excessive absorption
  • To produce a consistent coverage spread Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt evenly in multiple directions taking care not to apply too thinly and overspread the layer
  • The standard recommendation for Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt is to apply two coats to achieve a solid and opaque finish, though further coats may be necessary depending on the quality of the undercoat and the previous colour of the substrate
  • It is recommended to leave a 4 hour drying time between coats
  • To clean the equipment after use, rinse with clean water and wash hands with warm soapy water

This product is not recommended for spray application
