Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or if rain is likely before the job is complete. Protect areas around and under the furniture to be treated. This product should not be allowed to come in to contact with grass or plants as it may cause browning or die-back. If this occurs, dilute splashed areas with copious amounts of water.

Stir contents of the container thoroughly before and periodically during use to ensure a consistent finish.

  1. Apply Cuprinol Furniture Restorer liberally with a suitable brush
  2. Work the wood restorer gel into the surface of the wood with a finishing pad or stiff brush
  3. Work in small manageable areas that can be completed within 15 minutes
  4. Leave to stand for no more than 15 minutes
  5. Gently wash the gel from the wood with a watering can or slow running garden hose
  6. Allow the furniture to dry thoroughly before use
  7. In cases of severe weathering / greying, a further application may be required
  8. If necessary, lightly sand the wood to remove loose fibres

Excellent results - actually better than I expected
I am using it on a 100+ year old garden chair. Having been outdoors for all its life, it was heavily weathered and grey. Most of the original colour has been restored using one coat of restorer and a coarse nylon abrasive pad; some areas need two coats to achieve a satisfactory outcome. It is easy to use, albeit with some elbow grease, and provides a great basis for finishing.
