Preparation

Preparation

Back

For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

  • Thoroughly sand previously painted surfaces to remove any sheen
  • Special precautions should be taken during the surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood as they may contain harmful levels of lead
  • Ensure the surface is clean and free of any dust or debris by using a vacuum cleaner or by wiping the surface with a lint free cloth
  • Treat knots and resinous parts with a knotting solution

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before beginning any project to assess performance. To achieve optimum results follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

  • Do not apply in conditions of high humidity or if the room temperature is below 10°c
  • Stir thoroughly before use
  • Use a good quality synthetic brush and apply an even coat
  • Load your brush generously and apply evenly, making sure you don't over spread
  • In warm conditions the primer can dry rapidly and over-brushing should be avoided
  • It is recommended to leave a 4 hour drying time between coats
