To achieve the best results with Crown Ultra Matt Plus, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and sound, free from defects or poorly adhering material.

1. Remove any loose, flaking or peeling paint by sanding or using a paint scraper
2. Take extra care when preparing pre-1960s coatings, as they may contain harmful levels of lead
3. Treat any areas affected by organic growth, including mould, algae or fungal deposits, with a suitable fungicidal wash
4. Clean away dirt, grease and powdery residues using an appropriate detergent solution
5. Fill cracks, holes and other surface imperfections with a suitable filler, then sand smooth once dry
6. Wash the surface again if needed to remove dust or grease, then rinse and allow it to fully dry
7. Seal powdery or chalky substrates with a suitable stabilising solution
8. On porous or highly absorbent surfaces, apply a mist coat made from Crown Ultra Matt Plus diluted with up to 40% clean water
9. Prime polished or glossy surfaces with a suitable all-purpose primer to ensure proper adhesion
10. If stubborn staining or discolouration remains, spot-prime the affected area with an appropriate blocking primer before applying the topcoat.

Always test a small area first to confirm suitability and the final finish. Follow all guidance provided on the product tin.

For consistent colour, ensure you have enough paint for the full project, including extra for future touch-ins.

Crown Ultra Matt Plus should only be applied when air or substrate temperatures are above 10°C and the relative humidity is below 80% during application and drying.
