Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that wood to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, debris or other surface contaminants.

  1. For the removal of old paint and varnish coatings use a suitable wood finish stripper or remover and Trollull Professional Steel Wool if required
  2. For the removal of old wax finishes we recommend the use of Colron Wax Remover
  3. Fill any gaps and minor imperfections with Colron Wax Repair Sticks or an alternative filler suitable for the project
  4. Treat any resinous knots with Colron Knotting Solution
  5. Colron Refined Wood Dye may then be applied if a colour change is necessary

Good quality product
I used it to layer on my kitchen table top. Mega gloss and perfectly protected against water, tea, coffee and other liquids... Great varnish...

Very good Lacquer Always use this product on my projects
Have used this product several times. Always produces as excellent finish. Apply 3 coats .Sand with 400 grit sandpaper after second coat to give a good finish. When applying a drag my brush in the same direction along the grain and this eliminates brush strokes. Used in conjunction with Colron wood dyes.

Very impressed
A good quality product which has enhanced the grain of our new, pine wood cupboards, subsequent to the use of a Colron dye.

Does the trick
I thought once I put the stain on it looked good but a coat or two of this stuff took it to the next level.

Lovely satin finish
This has been used to protect some solid ash cabinets in our narrow boat. It gives a lovely satin shine and no/low odour when drying. A pleasure to use when you have a good quality brush. It's worth the premium over varnish any day.
