Overview

Back

Colron Refined Beeswax is a beeswax polish with a traditional formulation made from a blend of natural waxes. Creates a beautiful, natural lustre that is perfect for wooden furniture, paneling and many other interior wooden surfaces.

Please Note: Although Colron advise that this product is only suitable for use on bare or untreated wood, in our experience, wood waxes can be use over most other wood finishes.

Looking for an alternative to beeswax? Try Colron Refined Finishing Wax.

Ensure that wooden surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or other surface contaminants.

  1. Fill any gaps or holes in the wood surface with Colron Wax Repair Sticks or a suitable wood filler
  2. Any knots can be treated with Colron Knotting Solution
  3. For the removal of old wax finishes we recommend the use of Colron Wax Remover
  4. Use a suitable paint and varnish remover to remove old coats of paint or varnish
  5. To revitalise stripped interior wood use Colron Wood Reviver
  6. Prior to applying the wax, you may wish to apply Colron Refined Wood Dye or Colron Refined Danish Oil if a specific colour change is required

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

  1. Apply Colron Beeswax with a Colron Craftsmens Cloth in the direction of the wood grain
  2. Allow 15 minutes drying time
  3. Wax can be buffed with extra fine grade steel wool or with Colron Craftsmens Cloths in the direction of the wood grain
  4. Leave for 2 hours before applying a 2nd coat
  5. Increase the colour intensity and protection by adding more coats

I painted my front door grey would Colron Beeswax be ok to on it?

Colron Refined Beeswax is an interior only product. If it is on the internal area of the front door that will not catch any weather, this should be fine. Try a small test area to make sure the paint finish will not be discoloured.

I'd like to use Colrons Beeswax on the decorating wood that goes over the fireplace. Is it safe to do so or can it get damaged from the heat?

This product can be used on a mantel over a fireplace as it is a low VOC product. It is quite a soft finish whichI may require a top up coat more often as the heat will dry it out quicker than usual.

Easy to use Does what it says on the tin
This product gives a lovely sheen to the wood and helps to deepen the colour making it appear more vibrant. Excellent coverage, works well with the Rustin's Danish Oil, to protect the wood. I did apply three coats, but it was worth the effort. I will continue to use the beeswax, to keep the wood healthy and in good condition.Bookcase now receiving positive comments.

Unpleasant, long lasting smell Poor appearance on wood
Very unpleasant smell is used to mask the normal chemical smell of the product. This smell endures as the chemical smells rapidly disappear. The appearance on the grain of the wood I tested was to fill any cracks with the white/yellow appearance of the product and so significantly changed the appearance of the wood. I have since used another product which was a lot easier to use, with no smell and only enhances the woods natural colours.

Did the job
We had a new frame made for a mirror, when we asked for a light medium oak the company said they couldn't do this, so we had the natural oak finish. When we put the mirror up, it didn't blend with our furniture so I ordered the Beeswax and applied several coats until I achieved the correct finish. It was a good experience using the Beeswax as the last time I used the same sort of product was when I was an apprentice cabinet maker 58 years ago.

It's perfect for protecting and staining the front of our wooden bars
This product works perfectly with our reclaimed wooden bar fronts staining and protecting them from the rigours of heavy bar use and transportation. Reapply only once a year ready for the busy season and it works a treat!
