Please Note: Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960's paint surfaces over wood as they may contain harmful lead. It is not recommended to sand or use heat guns on pre-1960's paint as this could result in the release of toxic dust or fumes.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess the suitability of this product. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the tin at all times.

  1. Decant into a suitable container
  2. Apply the liquid liberally by brush to the surface to be stripped but DO NOT brush out
  3. Leave for 5-15 minutes to allow the wood stripper to penetrate the old finish
  4. Remove the finish using Trollull Professional Steel Wool or a finishing pad
  5. If removing multiple layers of old finish, a second application may be required
  6. Clean the surface thoroughly using white spirit and a clean, lint-free cloth
  7. Allow the surface to dry before applying a finish

Disappointed
Despite following the instructions carefully I found the product extremely poor at removing what I think was a urethane finish on a pine table. It did slowly dissolve but I had to use a lot of product and it was simply far too slow and ineffective. Wire wool didn’t work, it was better to use a flat metal scraper. Sanding the table was much faster and more effective, no fumes, no serious waste or muck. Actually your product made sanding a bit of a nightmare as it clogged up the sandpaper and made it really difficult versus non treated wood.

A note from us...
Hello Mark

I am sorry to hear that the Furniture Stripper didn't work for you. We always recommend a test area with all products, especially strippers, to check firstly for any adverse reactions and secondly that it will work for your project.

We have another stripper that may be more suitable called Peelaway. There is a Peelaway Sample pack that allows you to test two different strengths of stripper to see which is best suited for your project. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or if we can help further.
