Overview

Ciranova Fortico 1C is a professional water-based PU lacquer designed for the protection and finishing of interior parquet and wooden floors. Preparation

Preparation

Back

Proper preparation is essential to achieve the best adhesion, appearance and durability when applying Ciranova Fortico 1C. Ensure that surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease or any other surface contaminants before application.

  1. Remove any existing paint, varnish, lacquer or other finish completely to expose clean bare wood.
  2. Take care when working with coatings on older surfaces, particularly pre-1960s paints, as they may contain lead. If in doubt, test the coating before sanding or seek professional advice.
  3. Ensure the timber is free from dust, grease and other contaminants before beginning the sanding process.
  4. Sand the surface progressively using the correct sanding sequence, typically starting with 60 grit, followed by 80 grit and finishing with 100 grit.
  5. For a lighter and more natural appearance, Ciranova Woodlook Plus can be used as a primer before applying Fortico 1C.
  6. For floors with underfloor heating, exotic wood species or cork, the use of a suitable compatible primer is recommended to help promote adhesion and achieve an even finish.

Application

Application

Back

Ciranova Fortico 1C can be used as both a primer and finishing coat and is typically applied in three coats to achieve a durable and even finish.

  1. Apply the product using a brush or short-pile microfibre roller (approximately 8mm nap) suitable for water-based lacquers.
  2. Apply the first coat evenly in the direction of the wood grain, spreading the lacquer thinly and evenly across the surface.
  3. Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 4 hours under normal conditions.
  4. Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first and allow it to dry for approximately 6 hours.
  5. Lightly sand the surface using abrasive paper between P180-P220 to smooth the surface and remove any raised grain.
  6. Remove all sanding dust thoroughly using a vacuum or tack cloth to ensure a clean surface before applying the final coat.
  7. Apply the final coat evenly in the direction of the wood grain to achieve a consistent finish.
  8. Allow the final coat to dry fully before subjecting the floor to normal use.

Drying Times

  1. Lightly walkable: after approximately 12 hours
  2. Fully cured: 8-10 days
