Overview

Overview

Back

Bona SuperSport ONE is a one-component, water-borne, polyurethane finish for the surface treatment of wooden floors in school halls, sports halls, multi purpose halls and other busy environments with wooden floors that require a high degree of protection.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

This product is for newly sanded wood sports floors. Ensure surface to be varnished is clean, dry and free of all dust, dirt and other surface contaminates.

Surfaces to be finished, must be pre-treated with Bona SuperSport Primer. This will ensure a smooth, uniform finish with the best possible adhesion to the substrate.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Shake well before use. Ensure room temperature does not fall below 13°C during application and drying. Thoroughly read and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

  1. Apply Bona SuperSport One with a microfibre roller or swivel head applicator, using a smooth flowing action and avoiding accumulation of the lacquer
  2. Always maintain a wet edge to avoid overlaps
  3. Allow to dry properly before applying further layers of lacquer or paint
  4. Anticipate a slightly longer drying time for each layer that is applied
  5. Ensure good ventilation during the drying process
  6. If the previous layer of lacquer has been allowed more than 24 hours drying time, then an intermediate sanding is always required using a screen or scrad system of P150 grit or finer

Where a longer drying time is required due to high temperature and/or low humidity, Bona Retarder can be added to the varnish to increase the 'open time' of the product.

Floors will tolerate light foot traffic approximately 24 hours after the final application, however allow 72 hours drying before heavier use. The finished surface should be left for at least 5 days before covering with floor coverings or loading with heavy objects. Avoid damp mopping the floor during first week.

Regular Cleaning

For regular cleaning, to keep the surface in optimal condition, use Bona SuperSport Cleaner.

Deep Cleaning

For periodic or intensive cleaning, if the floor surface has become slippery, it is recommended to use Bona SuperSport Deep Clean.

Maintenance

To uphold a safe and professional looking surface, and to avoid having to sand back to bare wood again, the floor should be over-coated at regular intervals with additional coats of Bona SuperSport ONE. The frequency of this operation depends on the level of wear but would typically be between every 1-3 years.
