Overview
Blanchon S.O. Primer is a quick drying wood primer, for exotic and resinous parquet and other types of wooden floors. Gives a warming effect to bare wood and is particularly recommended for sealing in Blanchon Waterborne Dye or Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent before the application of a top coat, such as Blanchon Wood Lacquers and Varnishes.
This product is not required if applying a solvent-based varnish or lacquer.
Preparation
Surfaces to be primed and varnished must be clean, dry and free from surface dirt, dust and other contaminants prior to application.
- Sand old or new wood flooring to obtain a smooth, even surface, first sand to bare wood with P24 or P36, then with P50 or P60 and finish with P100 or P120
- Ensure all traces of dust are thoroughly removed with a vacuum
- The wood floor must be perfectly clean and dry with a moisture content below 10%
- Fill any gaps, splits or cracks with a suitable wood filler and sand smooth
- If a colour change is desired, Blanchon Waterborne Dye or Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent should be used and then allowed to dry throughly
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
- Stir thorughly before use, no thinning or diluting necessary
- Do not apply to the wood floor if the temperature is lower than 12°C or if the relative humidity is higher than 85% do not use on wood with a moisture content above 10%. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Apply with a wide brush or short hair roller in one generous, even coat
- Allow to dry for 45 mins before light sanding
- Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum
Finishing
Once dry, finish Blanchon S.O. Primer with any Blanchon wood varnish, Blanchon lacquer or other water-based wood varnish, lacquer or floor wax.
