Overview

Overview

Back

Barrettine Button Polish is a premium finish, quite often seen on antique wooden furniture, giving a highly polished, glass-like appearance to the surface. This polish is suitable for darker wood species, such as mahogany, dark oak, walnut and rosewood, enhancing the appearance of wood.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from grease, dust and other surface contaminates. Open grain should first be filled with a suitable wood grain filler or Barrettine Shellac Sanding Sealer and then lightly sanded.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to confirm performance and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the bottle at all times. Shake well before use. For best results, apply in a warm, dry atmosphere.

  1. Apply polish with a natural bristle brush or soft, lint-free cloth
  2. Work into the wood surface in a circular or figure of eight motion
  3. Apply up to 5 coats allowing to dry thoroughly between coats
  4. Lightly rub between coats with fine wire wool
  5. Finishing coat is best applied with the polish thinned 50:50 with Methylated Spirit
  6. Allowing 24 hours for the polished wood surface to harden properly

Finishing

Finishing

Back

For extra protection and a more traditional finish, a wax polish is recommended once Barrettine Button Polish has fully dried and hardened. This can then be buffed to the desired sheen.

Excellent polish Holds in the rubber very well and easy to control the flow
Barrettine Button Polish is an excellent button polish. The consistency is spot on and not runny when held in the rubber. Easy to control the flow as the polish is not too thin. Will use again.
