Overview
Liberon Home ColourCare Decorative Floor Varnish is ideal for decorating and protecting wooden and laminate floors with minimal preparation required. It can be used on varnished and pre-varnished wooden floors made from European or exotic species and laminates.

Preparation
Ensure that floors to be varnished are clean, dry and free from traces of dust, dirt, grease and any other surface contaminants.
Bare or New Wood Floors
- Fill any gaps or imperfections with a suitable floor filler
- Sand bare wooden floors with a 120 grit abrasive paper and remove any sanding dust
Varnished or Painted Wood Floors
- Previously varnished or painted wooden floors in good condition, should be washed, rinsed and allowed to dry
- Lightly sand with 240 grit abrasive paper and remove any sanding dust
- Painted or varnished floors in partially worn condition should be sanded back to bare wood, removing any dust
Waxed or Oiled Wood Floors
- Remove any existing wax finishes with Woodleys Wax and Polish Remover
- Mechanically sand twice, first with 60 grit abrasive, then 120 grit, until bare wood is reached, ensuring to remove any sanding dust
Laminate Flooring
- Wash with a sugar soap cleaner to remove any grease, rinse and leave to dry
- Lightly sand with 240 grit abrasive and remove dust
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Ideal application conditions are between 12°C and 25°C, in dry weather. Stir thoroughly before and periodically during application with a long, wide stick, working around the bottom of the tin, to ensure a consistent finish.
- Apply Liberon Decorative Floor Varnish using a good quality soft-bristle brush or a 3-5 mm short pile roller
- Apply the varnish in regular, criss-cross strokes and spread evenly, finishing in the direction of the grain
- Leave to dry for 3 hours and apply a 2nd coat
- Apply a third coat if required, leaving 3 hours between each coat
- Allow final coat to dry for 12 hours
Please Note: Varnished floors should be used with care in the first few days following application. Optimal resistance is obtained after two weeks.
