Overview
Cuprinol 5 Star Complete Wood Treatment is a clear, water-based, all-in-one wood preservative treatment for interior timber. Perfect for all interior timbers, including roof and floor joists, roof timbers, floorboards and more. It combines a woodworm killer, wet rot treatment and insect / fungus repellent all in one product.

Preparation
Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from dirt, debris and other contaminates.
- Any existing surface coatings such as paints, varnishes and stains must be fully removed by sanding or using a suitable wood stripper prior to treatment
- Existing traces of mould, mildew, algae and fungi must be removed with a stiff brush, broom or scraper
- Treat affected areas with a suitable mould and mildew remover
- All rotten timber must be cut out and replaced with new, sound wood
Application
Always do a small test area before beginning any project to assess the end results. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times. This product may cause darkening of some timbers.
- For best results, apply with a suitable brush, in the direction of the wood grain
- Apply to any freshly cut end grain, cut after the initial treatment
- To ensure thorough protection, treat all surfaces where possible
- Allow 48 hours to dry
Some Points of Note
- After full drying most glues, knotting solutions and fillers, such as Cuprinol All Purpose Wood Filler or Cuprinol Ultra Tough Wood Filler, can be used as normal
- Ensure timber is fully dry (approximately 3 days) before plastic flooring or rubber backed carpets are laid or hanging vinyl wallpaper
- If a long drying period is not possible, a vapour barrier such as heavy duty polythene sheet may be used
Please Note: Beehives and bee-keeping equipment must not be treated with Cuprinol 5 Star Wood Treatment.
Finishing
Once fully dry, surfaces treated with Cuprinol 5 Star Wood Treatment can be over-coated with a suitable paint, stain, oil or varnish.
