Blanchon Prim'Oil is a multi-purpose primer based on synthetic resins. The product has been specially designed to be applied on difficult timber such as tropical hardwoods. Most exotic woods (particularly Iroko, Merbau, Ipe and Teak) can contain large amounts of resins which often cause such problems as delaying the drying time of an oil, pronouncing surface defects and giving an uneven appearance on the surface of the wood. An application of Prim'Oil will prevent these side-effects from affecting the top coat.
Blanchon Prim'Oil should only be used internally on parquets, wood floors, cross-grained wood flooring and interior woodwork before oiling. It's high water repellency makes it ideal for use in areas subject to high levels of humidity such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or other surface contaminants. For the best results, the moisture content of the wood should be less than 10%.Old Timber
To stain wooden floors and other interior wooden surfaces prior to oiling, consider Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent or an alternative wood stain or dye.
Always do a test area before starting any project to test product suitability and finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin or container at all times.
Blanchon Prim'Oil is ready to use and does not require thinning.
Please note: Do not apply in conditions below 12°C . Only use in well ventilated areas. Avoid contact with plants and aquariums and keep them away until this product has fully dried.
Blanchon Prim'Oil requires overcoating with a suitable wood oil.
If required, lightly rub down with a very fine sandpaper and carefully remove all traces of sanding dust prior to oiling. For a clear finish, use Blanchon Hard Wax Oil or other suitable wood oil. For a coloured or stain finish, apply Blanchon Hard Wax Oil Tints or other suitable coloured wood oil.
