Manns UV decking oil cannot be used over timber that has been painted with conventional paints, varnished or lacquered. Any surface coatings must be fully removed to expose bare wood before the wood can be oiled.
Ensure surfaces to be oiled are clean, dry and free from surface dirt and debris.
For decking and other surfaces that are or have been affected by mould, algae or black patches on the timber, it is recommended to treat the wood with Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner before using a wood preservative and decking UV protection oil.
Also consider Barrettine Premier Wood Preservative to help protect decking and other exterior timber from mould, algae, dry rot, woodworm and wood related diseases after the decking has been stripped or cleaned. Wood preservative should be allowed to dry for a minimum of 24 to 48 hours before applying Manns UV resistant decking oil.
Stir Manns UV Decking oil well before and during application. Apply an even coat to all surfaces to ensure optimum performance. For the best results, apply to all sides of decking and other timber including sawn ends. Allow 12 to 24 hours between coats.
Allow 12 to 24 hours between coats during application. Leave for 24 to 30 hours after final coat until fully dry before subjecting to heavy foot traffic.
An additional coat of Manns UV decking oil can be applied to areas that become worn or dry looking as and when required to restore the look of decked areas and other wooden surfaces.
Remove as much oil as possible from brushes before cleaning with a good quality white spirit. Clean any spills with white spirit before the oil is allowed to dry.
Important: If applying with a cloth or rag, saturate all application cloths with water and dispose of them safely outside the home.
Keep Manns UV resistant decking oil in a tightly sealed tin. Store in an upright position at all times. Store in a cool well ventilated environment.
I made 11 very large planters for the entrance to a new pub / kitchen in London, Having treated the new timbers I used 10 litres on 1300 board feet covering well with 2 coats despite the cold damp weather dried with in 24hrs between coats. you can either brush on or use a simple garden sprayed to cover large areas with out problems. A great product !
Clear product which on some timbers does not show up. I used it on a project towards the end if summer and has discoloured quite quickly.
I used this to treat and protect 11 very large planters for a pub I have been working on, Covering unbended scaffold boards with ease and with a consistent stain result. Easy to apply and goes a long way. Drying quick even in this damp autumnal weather.
It dried quickly and came naturally with Wicks premium decking. It doesn't give smell either. Will be happy to buy it again when needed.
This product needs very little stirring after shaking the tin as recommended. Good coverage and so far beading like a dream. Will definitely buy more next season. 10 out of 10.
Sound product. A most surprisingly efficient dispatch operation from this excellent supplier
As long as it's available I'll always buy this one. 1st class.
I was pleased with the finish as I used a light oak colour on fairly old decking, it hid quite a number of wood aging blemishes. Delivery was quick and the parcel was left in a safe place. Thanks.
Does what it says on the tin - very well in fact.
Easily applied and exactly what I was looking for.
Really great oil. Goes on very easily. Was very good price and offers great protection. As with all oils check you're happy with the colour before doing all area with 2 coats as it does change obviously The rain now sits in beads on our decking like a new car !! Very very happy with this product
Great product to apply, but only time will tell if it works
Seemed to do the job although I've never used an oil before. Easy enough to brush on. Was just enough to do my fence twice round. I bought it because the price was right.
Used other decking oils but this looks and goes on with a feel of quality.
We had 4 large wooden outside sculptures to do, and they have come up lovely, we wanted an oil to keep covering these and protect from the bad weather. We have photos of before and after if you are interested. Also as a bonus there was no nasty smell to this product either.
Only time will tell but very easy application and good waxy covering after 3 coats.
It covered well but my timber decking was so thirsty that it soaked the treatment up like blotting paper. Hence coverage was vastly underestimated and I had to order another couple of cans. I am having to coat the decking with three coats because of this and try to bring it up to an acceptable standard particularly around knotting where the colour varies considerably. I realise that all of these points may be nothing to do with the product
Thank you for the feedback, it wood be fair to say that if the wood is a bit drier and older it will certainly absorb more oil than a fresh new wood. Also rough sawn wood versus smooth will have a different absorbency rate. I hope that you had enough to complete your project and if there is anything else I can help with please do let me know.
Kind Regards Sam.
Very good product !
