Overview

Overview

Back

Liberon Natural Finish Interior Varnish is ideal for protecting and maintaining the natural look and feel of interior woodwork, such as skirting boards, doors, work surfaces and panelling. It is suitable for use in high moisture environments, such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Please Note: The product may raise the grain on some hardwoods. Natural Finish Interior Varnish is not suitable for applying over an oil-based finish.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants. Any previous finishes must be removed and the surface stripped back to bare wood.

  1. Remove any existing wax finishes with Woodleys Wax and Polish Remover
  2. Remove any existing varnish finishes with a suitable paint stripper or varnish remover
  3. Alternatively, remove any previous finishes by sanding, taking care to remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner or damp cloth prior to varnishing

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.

  1. Shake / stir the contents of the tin thouroghly before use
  2. Apply the first coat evenly, using a suitable brush or short hair roller
  3. Allow to dry for a minimum of 2 hours before applying further coats
  4. We recommend a minimum of 3 coats are applied, sanding lightly between coats
  5. More coats may be required for heavy traffic areas
  6. Allow the final coat of varnish a minimum of 24 hours drying time

Dont try with Liberon Wood Dye
At first everything was fine and the paint covered the tree well, but after it dried and the recommended varnish was applied, strange yellow spots appeared on the surface.

Great!
Purchased with Liberon floor varnish which I used on stair treads. Applied 3 coats of interior varnish to our 1930s oak bannister, lightly sanding I between coats. Lovely matt finish, just as I wanted. Great product!
