Fiddes Exterior High Build Wood Oil is a versatile wood oil designed to seal and protect exterior wood and joinery from weathering and the effects of UV damage. Perfect for a wide range of exterior wood projects including wooden doors, windows and frames, garden gates and more.
Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from surface contaminates. All surface coatings such as paint, varnish and varnish like wood stains must be removed back to bare wood.
Dense exotic hardwoods that contain a high concentration of natural oils may require a rub down with methylated spirit before oiling to aid penetration of this product.
Always do a test area before starting any project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Stir thoroughly before and during application.
Wood treated with Fiddes Exterior Wood Oil can be brushed with a stiff broom or brush from time to time to remove surface dirt and debris.
For more stubborn dirt and grime or traces of mould or algae, use a suitable wood cleaner.
If the oil finish is looking tired or is loosing its ability to repel water, a maintenance coat can be easily applied.
This is a quality exterior finish, which I have used both professionally and personally and am happy with the results. It has an easy application and is of such a viscosity that the first few coats sink into the wood well. It gives a nice sheen and smooth finish once several coats have been applied. I regularly recommend this product.
This wood oil is easy to apply (don't put coats on too thick) and produces a beautiful sheen finish which provides excellent protection from the elements. Three coats applied on exterior garden furniture items. Can highly recommend EB.
Used this on cedar cladding. Easy to apply and leave a warm natural finish. Seems to go further than indicated. Worth paying a little more for.
Gives water proofing without the varnished look and enhances natural colour rather than changing the colour.
An expensive product, but well worth every penny!
Very pleased with this product, have tried lots of other external finishes but this is the best
Excellent product which is easy to apply and dries quickly to leave a shiny finish.
Easy to apply and brush will wash out in white spirit. Can recoat quickly. Expensive to buy. Enhances the appearance of rough or finished timber spectacularly.
Have used product before. Very good quality finish.
Our beautiful hardwood door had suffered from heavy weather causing ingrained dirt and we doubted that this could be reversed. However, our carpenter/joiner told us about this product and after carefully and gently sanding down the door he applied this wood oil and the door now looks truly amazing. An added benefit is that the product also gives protection from weather. Cannot recommend too highly.
Wanted a solid, easy to apply durable finish for teak on my yacht. If looks are anything to go by, I'd recommend anyone used to using varnish on exterior wood to try this one. Time will tell, but I have every confidence.
Easy to apply, dries to a lovely satin sheen.
Hasn't been on long enough to prove itself yet but it makes the wood look good, after a lot of sanding and preperation.
Seemed a little expensive. But it covered well and the finish looks brilliant
Excellent product, Fiddes is a brand that you can trust. High quality, easily applied & looks great.
Goes on a treat and the gates look really good. In the rain they look like waxed car bodywork
Had to apply wood oil to some timber that has the sun on it for a long time. Varnish just pickles too easily. This product will protect the wood for a longer time without peeling issues.
I was introduced to Fiddes Exterior oil by our joiner and have used it for the last 5 years on all exterior woodwork including a staircase. We have 1920s oak cills, replacement hard wood cills and a 4 year old oak front door which looks brand new. The secret is being really disciplined about annual treatment. With light sanding a single annual coat is sufficient to keep woodwork in excellent condition.
It is easy to apply and gives a very satisfying finish to wood surfaces.
I have found this to be a much more reliable, user friendly product than the osmo oil everyone seems to rave about.
