Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from surface dirt, debris and other organic matter including mould, mildew, algae and fungi.
Always do a test area before starting any project to test appearance and suitability of the product on the timber to be treated. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the container at all times.
Please Note: The application of this product may cause darkening of some timbers. To ensure thorough protection, treat all surfaces. Apply to any surfaces cut after treatment.
After drying, wood glues, fillers, mastics and knotting solutions can be used on the timber as normal. Treated wood should be allowed to dry for 6 - 8 weeks before laying plastic floor coverings, rubber backed carpets or underlay, hanging vinyl wallpaper or using mastics. Do not spill on asphalt, bitumen, bitumen felt, tar, plaster, plastics, paint, etc.
Drying times can vary between 1-5 days dependant upon climate conditions and top coat.
If used as a standalone treatment and not over-coated with another product, Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear (BP) can be topped up as and when required by following the preparation and application instructions above. If it is over-coated, there is no need to maintain this product. The top coat should be maintained in accordance with the maintenance instructions provided by the manufacturer for that product.
Does what it says on the tin
The cover rate is pretty good but the cost for a 5litre can is excessive. I would use more of this product on maintaining my woodwork (large shed) if the cost of this product was more reasonable
Good product, too early to see if it will stand the test of time.
Cuprinol Wood Preserver. I just used this to treat my fence, last done 10 years ago with the same product. The fence is in prefect condition, with no signs of rot at all. This product soaks in quickly and is easy to use. More expensive than water based products but well worth the extra cost.
I am very pleased with this item and it has done the job I want.
Always like to use Cuprinol products and very happy with this product, unable to find anywhere else to match your price ,happy customer .
Delivered quickly. Seller highly recommended. Great product
The product hardly needs a review. It is an established product that does what it says on the tin. What's not to like?
A couple of coats like this and the wood was looking great and could visibly see the difference in terms of water repellent. Goes a long way and brushes clean easily
Better than the water based preservers which are well watery.
Bought to provide initial protection to all outer and inner surfaces of new log cabin as well as supporting timbers. Easy to apply and coverage is extensive. Approx 9 litres used to provide two full coats. Brush cleaning simple.
It darkened the wood a bit despite being clear but otherwise was good and I put two coats on before using cuprinol anti slip, can be applied easily and brushes wash out with water
Very easy to apply, happy with the product.
Cuprinol is a firm favourite with me - it does what it says with no fuss. The claer wood preserver has worked well for me in the past, so why use anything else? (I do have some experience of other products form other manufacturers and they don't always do what they say on the tin - 5 year wood-stain lasting just two before flaking, for example)
Easy order process, fast delivery and very well priced products :)
As it is a preserver it is hard to tell immediately if it is working, but soaked up to wood very easily.
The real test will be next winter when the green mildew returns or not!
It does what it says on the tin with good coverage and penetration.
The product does exactly what it says on the tin. Easy to use, good coverage and easily cleaned from the brush with white spirit.
Used this oil on my wooden benches, it went on easy and quick and gave a lovely sheen to the wood. Would recommend it to my friends.
