Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear can be used as a basecoat with Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback.

Ensure that surfaces to be treated with Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear are clean, dry and free from surface debris such as dirt and organic matter including mould, mildew, algae or fungi.

  • If biological contamination is already present on the timber this must first be removed and treated with a fungicidal wash or mould and mildew cleaner.
  • All rotten timber must be cut out and replaced.

Always do a test area before starting any project to test appearance and suitability of the product on the timber to be treated. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the container at all times.

  1. Apply 2-3 uniform coats of Cuprinol Wood Preserver with a brush or by dipping the timber for at least 3 minutes if practical.
  2. Apply the second coat after the first has soaked in.

The application of this product may cause darkening of some timbers. To ensure thorough protection, treat all surfaces. Apply to any surfaces cut after treatment.

Drying time: 2 to 5 days under average temperature with good ventilation. Longer under less favourable conditions.

After drying, wood glues, fillers, mastics and knotting solutions can be used on the timber as normal. Treated wood should be allowed to dry for 6 - 8 weeks before laying plastic floor coverings, rubber backed carpets or underlay, hanging vinyl wallpaper or using mastics. Do not spill on asphalt, bitumen, bitumen felt, tar, plaster, plastics, paint, etc.

Once fully dry, a solvent or water-based wood finish, such as a wood paint, varnish, stain or oil can be applied.

To renovate, simply apply a fresh coat of Curpinol Wood Preserver as required following the Preparation and Application instructions.

Delieverd quickly, excellent product, went further than I thought by Miss Pam Davies

Easy to put on, didn't drip too much, good sized tin. Tin was a bit dented on delivery but that didn't make any difference and the product wasn't damaged at all. Great product, glad I spent this here as I researched quite a lot first. It sunk into the fence, gave it a nice golden glow as it dried and a slight lightness as it dried properly. The rain just drips down it now so my lovely fence is good for some years hopefully. Had some left, put three coats on my small bench. The website was a great help.

Can not fault this product by Allan Willcock

I have used this product for many years, both with sprayer but mostly with a brush. More expensive than many similar products but well worth the extra cost. Goes on easily and soaks in well and lasts for years(10 years since I last did my fence), so saves time and money in the long run. Would not use anything else.
