Manns Trade Light Fast Wood Stain

Wooden surfaces must be clean and dry before application of Light Fast Wood Stain. Previous finishes should be completely removed and the surface correctly sanded to ensure consistent staining. It is recommended that the substrate should be sanded with a 180 Grit abrasive prior to staining.

• Fill any holes, gaps or splits in the wood with Manns Trade Mix and Fill or other suitable wood filler
• Ensure that the wood has been correctly and evenly sanded
• After sanding, floors and other wood, use a vacuum cleaner to remove all traces of sanding dust
• Furniture and other wood can be wiped down with methylated spirit to clean, degrease and remove sanding dust prior to staining

Please note: Incorrectly or poorly sanded surfaces can give a patchy appearance. If uneven patches, swirls or other strange effects are clearly visible after the stain has been applied, the wood should be re-sanded and stained again.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the container at all times.

1. Manns Light Fast Wood Stain can be applied with a lint-free cloth, microfibre cloth, application pad, by dipping the wood into the stain or by spray application
2. As a general rule, always use masking tape when applying to protect areas not being stained
3. Always work on one small area at a time and wipe off any excess stain as you go
4. Try to keep to complete boards or pieces of wood. For example, a table may be made up of a table top, legs and cross supports. Apply this product to the legs, supports, cross pieces and table top separately taking care not to get fresh stain on areas already stained
5. Once a generous coat has been applied, wipe back the surface with an uncoloured (white) absorbent cloth about 10 seconds after staining, to remove any excess wood stain
6. Allow 15-30 mins drying time
7. 1-2 coats of Light Fast Stain can be applied depending on the desired colour strength and depth

Manns Light Fast Wood Stain must be finished with a suitable wood varnish, wax or wood oil to seal in and protect the colour.

Manns Wood Varnishes and Lacquers

Alternatively brands of interior wood varnish or lacquer can also be used.

If using a solvent-based top coat, apply the first coat thinly, passing over the surface with few strokes to avoid any lifting or dragging of the stain. Apply the second coat as normal, de-nibbing between coats.
