Envirograf ES VFR Clear Fire Protection Coating must be applied over a single coat of Envirograf ES VFR Clear Primer and protected by a top coat of Envirograf ES VFR Translucent Top Coat Varnish.

The ES/VFRC System offers a clear coating; suitable for upgrading new and already coated timber and wood related surfaces & UPVC to BS476: Part 6 & 7, Class 0 & 1, UK Building Regulations, also EU EN SBI Test to A1-B/S1/d0 of European Standards, EN13505, EN13823:2002 Single Burn and SBI EN11925:2 2002 Ignitability.

Please Note: This product is not suitable for access points such as doors and loft hatches.

Ensure the surface to be coated is dry, clean, free from dust, grease, wax and loose material before application.

  1. New wood should be sanded, working in the direction of the grain, ensuring to remove any sanding dust afterwards
  2. Wash the surface of oily or resinous timbers with cellulose thinners or a similar solvent
  3. Apply one coat of Envirograf ES VFR Clear Primer and allow to dry prior to use applying this Fire Protection Retardant

Always do a test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. The moisture content of the wood should be below 17% before applying this product.

Stir thoroughly prior to use.

  1. Apply product by roller, brush or spray at a rate of approximately 10-122 meters per litre, per coat
  2. If applying by spray, a maximum of 5% water can be added
  3. In this instance, the product must be thoroughly mixed to ensure that the added water has been evenly distributed in the fire protection coating
  4. Ensure that the first coat is thoroughly dry before applying a second coat (allow 2 hours drying time)
  5. Two coats are required for BS476 Parts 6 & 7, Class 0 & Class 1 (1987) spread of flame

Please Note: By it's nature, Oak contains a small quantity of Iron which in some instances may cause the timber to turn black when treated with ES/VFR system.

Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of paint.

Envirograf ES VFR Clear Fire Retardant Coating must be overcoated with Envirograf ES VFR Translucent Spirit-Based Top Coat or another compatible water-based varnish to seal in and protect the fire resistant coating.

This product should not be de-nibbed (lightly sanded) prior to applying the top coat.

The company were efficient , the product easy to use, delivery prompt - everything you would want and expect. Only comment to add is that I would have liked some sort of certificate with it as proof of use.
