Preparation

Preparation

Back

Surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and free from all traces of dust, grease and loose material before applying Earthborn Ecopro Matt Emulsion.

  1. Remove all loose, flaking or defective paint using a stiff brush or scraper to ensure a sound surface for painting.
  2. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paintwork, as these surfaces may contain harmful lead.
  3. Powdery or unstable areas should be stabilised with a suitable wall sealer to improve adhesion and prevent future peeling.
  4. Stains that may bleed through the paint surface, such as water, rust or nicotine, should be treated with Earthborn Isolating Primer before application.
  5. For previously painted surfaces in good condition, wash down thoroughly with a mild detergent or sugar soap Sugar Soap Concentrate solution to remove grease, dirt and chalky residues, then allow to dry completely before painting.
  6. Very smooth or glossy areas should be lightly sanded to create a key for the new paint layer, ensuring all sanding dust is removed afterwards.
  7. On new or porous substrates such as fresh plaster, apply a mist coat made from four parts paint mixed with one part water to aid adhesion and even absorption.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Earthborn Ecopro Matt Emulsion is a professional-quality, water-based paint, so there may be subtle differences in sheen or tone between batches. To maintain colour consistency, avoid starting a new tin in the middle of a wall. When decorating large areas, pour all tins into a single container and mix thoroughly before use.

Earthborn paints should always be stirred thoroughly before and during application to maintain an even colour and texture.

  1. Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C or above 30°C, or in high humidity.
  2. Apply using a good quality synthetic brush, medium pile roller, or suitable spray system.
  3. On new or porous surfaces, start with a mist coat made from four parts paint mixed with one part water.
  4. For best results, apply two thin, even coats, allowing the first coat to dry fully before applying the second.
  5. Typical drying time is 1-2 hours to touch and 6-12 hours between coats, depending on conditions.
  6. Apply the second coat in the opposite direction to the first for a consistent, even finish.

Aftercare

Aftercare

Back

Earthborn Ecopro Matt Emulsion is designed to be durable and easy to maintain once fully cured. Allow the paint to dry completely before carrying out any cleaning or touch-ups.

  1. For routine cleaning, gently wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth or sponge.
  2. For more stubborn marks, use a mild detergent solution - avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads that may damage the finish.
  3. Lightly touching up small areas can be achieved using the same batch of paint. Apply sparingly with a soft brush or roller and feather the edges while still wet.
  4. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before carrying out any repainting or maintenance work.
  5. Store any leftover paint in a cool, frost-free place with the lid tightly sealed for future use.
  6. Dispose of empty tins responsibly - allow residual paint to dry out and follow local recycling or waste disposal guidelines.
