Overview
Crown Aquaflow is an advanced water-based technology especially formulated to give the qualities of a traditional solvent paint with Crown's unique Breatheasy formulation combined with the convenience of a water-based paint. Ideal for use on interior wood work, skirting boards, bannisters and doors.
Preparation
To achieve the best results ensure the surface is clean, undamaged and dry
- Remove all loose and peeling previous coats of paint, taking care if the paint is pre-1960s as this can contain harmful levels of lead
- If necessary use dust sheets to cover any carpet or furniture
- If needed, repair the area with a suitable filler, repairing any gaps, cracks or holes and then sanding down to produce a smooth surface
- Where necessary remove dust, grease and oil with a suitable detergent to ensure a clean surface
- If necessary slightly abrade the surface before applying the primer and then wipe clean with a lint free cloth
- Use a suitable primer, such as Crown Aquaflow Undercoat to help the paint adhere to the surface
- If you are using more than one batch of paint, blend them together to ensure a consistency of colour and tone
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Do not apply in damp humid conditions or when the room temperature is below 10°c
- Stir the paint thoroughly before application and periodically when applying
- Apply the paint evenly and avoid overspreading the layer of paint
- 2 coats are recommended to produce a solid and opaque finish
- A drying time of 4 hours between coats are recommended
