Bona Craft Oil is made from a unique blend of different vegetable oils, modified for superior impregnation and long-lasting protection. It's ideal for staining a wide variety of interior wooden surfaces including wooden floors, work-tops, furniture and more.
This formula of this oil-based wood stain is more environmentally responsible than other wood oils, containing little solvents which also means quicker saturation, with fewer applications. Low in odour, easy to handle the formulation is EN 71-3 compliant, so it's safe for application on children's toys and countertops.
Ensure that the floor or other wood surface to be treated is acclimatised to its end-use environment, well sanded, clean, dry and free from any sanding dust, wax and any other contaminants.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Allow product to reach room temperature and stir (or shake in the case of Natural) the container thoroughly before use. Optimal application conditions are between 20-25°C and 30-60% relative air humidity. High temperatures and low humidity shorten drying time, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. Minimum temperature for use is 16°C.
The room can normally be furnished after 24-48 hours but wait approx. 1 week before covering the surface with carpets or cleaning with wet methods.
Clean the floor regularly using a dry mop and/or a vacuum cleaner. When needed, wipe off with a damp mop with Bona Oil Soap added to the cleaning water. Always clean using as dry a method as possible. Wooden floors must never be soaked with water as this can damage the finish.
As an alternative cleaning method, the Bona Oiled Floor Spray Mop can also be used. This method is particularly ideal for domestic environments.
For maintenance and upkeep of the surface, use Bona Care Oil. To restore worn off colouring it is possible to add 20% of coloured Bona Craft Oil to the Bona Care Oil. The frequency of maintenance oiling is determined by the level of wear and may range from every 3rd year in a domestic environment to a few times a year in a commercial environment.
