Barrettine Synthetic Black Tar Paint can be used as a protective coating on numerous materials including metal, concrete, stone and wood. It should only be used on surfaces that have not been affected by weathering.
Surfaces to be coated must be free from surface contaminates such as dirt, debris, rust or scale.
Oil and grease should be removed with a lint-free cloth, dampened with Barrettine White Spirit.
Wood does not require sanding prior to application, but if you do sand the wood do not use sandpaper more than 80 grit.
If required, a coat of anti-corrosive primer can be used on metal surfaces prior to applying Barrettine Black Synthetic Black Tar Paint.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess performance and compatibility, and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Do not apply this product over other tar-based products or normal pigmented paints, or to surfaces that can rise above 65°. Stir the contents of the tin thoroughly before and periodically during application to ensure consistent coverage.
