These products offer increased durability whilst enhancing the natural beauty and character of the wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>I&#8217;ve over applied a wood oil and it&#8217;s gone sticky, is there anything i can do?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, over-application of \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product-type\/oils\" target=\"_blank\">\nwood oil<\/a> can be easily remedied by dampening a clean, lint free cloth in white spirit and wiping off the excess oil. Take care not to use too much white spirit and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. This will break down and remove the surplus oil from the surface of the wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is it a good idea to apply more coats of oil than recommended for better protection?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It is always best to stick with the recommended number of coats. If additional coats of oil are applied or if it is applied too thickly, the surplus oil will remain on the surface of the wood. This could result in a number of problems including a sticky, tacky finish; a finish that could take days or longer to fully dry; or a finish that is easily scratched, scuffed and marked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/fDEKwq5g-AojCoGVcj-BWU-rrvXnzkMSQ2VHbk6MM3cco3QZ9mEKAdkq_Q-dk06PbvKLgjMlTEojuToO1wYXkeqnDVZfsPtpnGXCLlql_DomUnA0o3diD-MB3RjTQs_avqpE25cS\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Apply &#8211; Osmo Polyx Oil transcript.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hi I\u2019m Jay from Wood Finishes Direct, and In this video I&#8217;ll be giving you some top application tips and my favorite application technique for the \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-polyx-oil?agent=youtube&amp;custref=YT-blog-polyx-prep-2020\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo Polyx Oil Range<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparation is key! So if you haven&#8217;t already seen the video on pre application Osmo video check that out now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For small projects the ideal application tool is a high quality blend brush such as the \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-soft-tip-brush?agent=youtube&amp;custref=YT-blog-polyx-prep-2020\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo Soft Tip Brush<\/a>. For large open spaces like floors or interior cladded walls the ideal application is \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-floor-brush-head\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo floor brush<\/a>, it gives you a great level of control and helps limit overlap marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we are ready to apply. Stir the tin thoroughly before and during application for consistency, load the brush and dab off any excess. Apply a thin first coat, in manageable areas working with the grain, now remove the surplus with a \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/woodleys-microfibre-cloths\" target=\"_blank\">\nmicrofibre cloth<\/a> and leave to dry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once dried, take your finishing pad and lightly sand the finished area.
