In this case, the roof had seen better days and simply couldn\u2019t be saved, so it was replaced entirely. Taking care of these bigger problems first ensures your hard work won\u2019t go to waste later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Prep the Surface Properly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparation is everything when it comes to achieving a long-lasting finish. Since the summer house had been painted before, the wood needed a thorough sanding to create a good surface (or \u201ckey\u201d) for the new coating to adhere to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admittedly, sanding isn\u2019t the most enjoyable part, especially with so many window frames to work around. To save time and effort:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Use an electric sand on large, flat areas<br>\u2022 Switch to manual anding for tighter, detailed spots<br>\u2022 Brush away all dust once finished to ensure a clean surface<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3: Apply the Paint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the prep complete, it\u2019s time for the rewarding part &#8211; painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After opening and stirring the paint thoroughly, the chosen shade &#8211; <em>Wild Thyme<\/em> &#8211; goes on smoothly and easily. It acts as a solid base for the second coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Timing between coats is crucial:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Apply at least two coats<br>\u2022 Wait no longer than 4-6 hours between coats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Final Result<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation speaks for itself. What was once a tired, neglected structure is now a fresh and inviting summer house.
