It includes everything you need to test both PeelAway products and determine which one is best suited to your specific project before committing to a larger quantity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a general rule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/barrettine-peelaway-1\" target=\"_blank\">\nPeelAway 1<\/a><\/strong> is ideal for older surfaces with thick layers of paint, especially where lead paint may be present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/barrettine-peelaway-7\" target=\"_blank\">\nPeelAway 7<\/a><\/strong> works best on more modern oil and water-based paints.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To demonstrate the difference, we tested both products on a painted wooden door, starting with a small test area for each.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>Application Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>PeelAway can be applied using either the supplied spatula or a brush. Whichever method you choose, make sure to prepare properly &#8211; this is powerful stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Protect surrounding areas such as floors and walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear gloves and old clothing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work carefully and methodically<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The thickness of the coating will depend on how many layers of paint you\u2019re removing, but <strong>around 3\u20134mm<\/strong> is ideal for most jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once applied, cut a piece of the correct PeelAway sheeting to size and press it firmly over the coated area, smoothing out any air bubbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll notice that <strong>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/barrettine-peelaway-7\" target=\"_blank\">\nPeelAway 7<\/a> has a thicker consistency<\/strong>, making it particularly well suited to spatula application. Apply the sheeting in the same way as before.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>Waiting For Results<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>After around <strong>three hours<\/strong>, the PeelAway was still quite wet and hadn\u2019t fully completed its work. Patience is key with paint removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After <strong>24 hours<\/strong>, however, the results were far more satisfying.
