These 2 particular products have been specially formulated to better retain the natural, untreated look of the wood whereas a clear wood oil or varnish would darken the wood and enhance the natural character and colouration of the timber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a new bathroom stool with an unfinished wooden top. We think the wood is oak or ash. We wish to treat the top so that the wood provides some water proofing but most importantly that it remains as near to the present finish as possible i.e a clear, flat finish would be ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For bathrooms we always recommend a coat of \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-wood-protector\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo Wood Protector (4006)<\/a> first, this gives a more moisture repellent finish to the wood and helps to prevent mould and rot. This will slightly darken the wood however as it penetrates the woods grain. A clear oil such as \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-polyx-oil\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo Polyx Oil<\/a> will maintain the natural appearance, but will darken the wood again, much like when you wipe water over bare wood, it will enhance and enrich the woods natural tones. Sample sizes are available and I would recommend these although for a stool the 125ml tin will be more than enough to complete two thin coats required for a protective finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An alternative is \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/osmo-polyx-oil-raw-3044\" target=\"_blank\">\nOsmo Polyx Oil Raw (3044)<\/a>, this contains a minute amount of white pigment to counteract the darkening effect, however you can not use the Wood protector beforehand as this will darken the wood. Lightly abrade the surface with a finishing pad and remove all sand dust. Reapply a thin coat of the Osmo Polyx Oil Raw to the affected area for an invisible repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t undo all your hard work by using a regular household cleaner that can strip The Osmo Polyx Oil Range! Surfaces treated with then Osmo Polyx Oil Raw can be cleaned with \n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2I64ncH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\nOsmo Spray Cleaner<\/a> It is a day to day&nbsp; cleaning solution for oiled and waxed interior woods. \n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/36Swx5p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\nOsmo Wash and Care<\/a> is an alternative, It is a water-soluble cleaning concentrate for oiled or waxed interior wood, Just add 1 cap full to 1L of water and it\u2019s ready to use. For oiled floors we would recommend using this with the \n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2HURm5t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\nOsmo Spray mop<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your wooden surfaces are looking a bit tired and worn, you will be relieved to know it&#8217;s a really easy fix! Osmo liquid wax cleaner is the answer to your problems. Specially designed to regenerate and regenerate oiled and wax surfaces. You must make sure you use the \n<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3nt3wmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\nOsmo Liquid Wax Cleaner<\/a> white with the Osmo Polyx Oil Raw as it contains the same white pigment as the Raw if you use the clear version this will darken your wood giving you the wet look.
