This then marks and discolours the paint finish. Wood oils are not able to penetrate this seal and will not be able to bind to the wood fibres like they are supposed to, so they are not compatible. Wiping the knot with \n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-finishes-direct.com\/product\/barrettine-meths\" target=\"_blank\">\nmethylated spirit<\/a> and allowing it to dry before the application of the wood oil should normally be sufficient. The solvents in the wood oil should prevent the knots from bleeding and ultimately discolouring the final finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I&#8217;ve over applied a wood oil and it&#8217;s gone sticky, is there anything i can do?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, over-application of wood oil can be easily remedied by dampening a clean, lint free cloth in white spirit and wiping off the excess oil. Take care not to use too much white spirit and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. This will break down and remove the surplus oil from the surface of the wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/DrJXNsJGsjW9QaK4CVoC6MKWWU95oSysq_M88SRdoGFM0ZGTqMmObo59wPG4GKwp1VN8U5oa-JrIQJFStOpdP15pMlpsSuvTg5w_9EBnX5wAlAHm8O1M5Q7Qkyl2gm3UEYKcw4nU\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Before you Buy &#8211; Osmo Polyx Oil transcript.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hi I\u2019m Jay from Wood Finishes Direct, In this video I&#8217;m going to be showing you&nbsp; my favourite application technique for the Raw version of the Osmo Polyx Oil. Check out our Osmo Polyx Oil Raw 3044 preparation video now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regardless of the size of the project, I always prefer to get up close and personal with the Raw, using my favourite applicator the Osmo Soft Tip Brush, I like to go with a 2 inch for smaller projects but I use the beefy 4 inch for floors or large areas. Its high quality synthetic mix of bristles is great at limiting over application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So when you are happy with your test areas and ready to apply. Start by giving the tin a good stir before and periodically during application to prevent inconsistencies in the finish. Then it&#8217;s as simple as loading the brush dabbing off any excess and applying thinly, working with the grain and in manageable areas. Once applied remove any excess with a microfibre cloth and leave to dry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drying time on the Osmo Polyx Oil Raw is 24 hours, and it dries to a lovely natural matt finish [rub the board]. Once dried you need to lightly sand with a finishing pad &#8211; this helps the second coat soak in and gives you better finish all round. The end is in sight! Now apply the second coat as you did the first and remove all excess and you&#8217;re done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you need further technical assistance or advice on your project?
