Our Finishing Oil is made with a blend of the finest ingredients to create a product that is easy to apply with a paint brush, foam roller or spray gun. It offers good durability against liquid spillages and offers some heat resistance. It is also safe for use on childrens furniture and toys and can be used on all food preparation surfaces. For use on oak, pine, ash, cherry, light oak, medium oak, dark oak, antique oak, old oak, elm, mahogany, teak, walnut, yew, iroko, cedar, beech, ebony, chestnut, maple, pitch pine, ramin, rosewood, wenge, willow and many more. Lacquers (varnish) and paints are film forming and if damaged, or aged, can peel or flake. Finishing Oil does not form a seal on the surface, instead it penetrates deep into the surface grain, therefore keeping the wood supple and making it strong at the same time. It will continue to soak through the surface grain so future applications will be necessary which also improves the effect. At least 3 coats are recommended but it is not unusual to apply up to 5 coats. The frequency of subsequent coats depends on the density of the timber although once or twice a year is a good guideline. So that we can supply this product in all of the container sizes we sometimes pour the Morrells product into a different tin and label it as 'Manns'. |

There are many ways to apply this product (no skill is required), the most popular being by cloth so that you key in and wipe off the excess oil at the same time during application. Some customers prefer a paint brush for getting into turned and moulded areas and a paint brush is also good for keeping to a straight edge (as with skirting for example). For a super smooth finish, de-nib (lightly sand) the oil between coats for a silky effect. Very fine sandpaper or wire wool will suffice. Finishing Oil is also easy to apply through virtually all types of spray equipment (cloth in the surface oil). Coverage and Container SizesApprox 18 Square metres per litre depending on the temperature, amount applied and the type of wood being worked on. Drying TimeA thin coat will dry within 4 - 8 hours at room temperature. UsesAll internal wooden areas including food preparation areas and children's toys. |
