The wood you are working on will influence your colour, normally changing it by a shade or two. This can be avoided by using the acid cat primer first. It will also fill scratches and blemishes and makes sanding easier prior to applying the top coat(s).
It is white which also helps give a blank sheet of canvas thus providing the correct colour match. When using a primer just 1 top coat can be applied although 2 coats is recommended. With increased penetration, this base coat sinks further into the surface grain which helps with adhesion and also helps to assist with a smoother result.
For those who don't require a perfect match it is ok to apply 2 coats directly on to the wood or 3 coats for added protection |
