Two Pack Lacquer

This product needs to be mixed with a catalyst at a ratio of 10 parts lacquer to 1 part catalyst. The catalyst comes supplied with the product

2 Pack Water Lacquer is a very strong water borne lacquer, designed to give good wear and durability qualities to most wooden surfaces such as floors, kitchens and table tops etc.

It is not too liquid making it easy to apply with a paint brush. In the tub it has a slight colour to it but once on the wood it dries completely clear. As with all non-pigmented, products the look of your piece before application does change a little which most customers say is for the better. It tends to brighten the look a little and enhance the grain.

If 2 Pack Water Lacquer is being applied on top of a water based stain it is advisable to try to use a minimum of brush strokes to avoid dislodging the colour in the stain. This is only necessary when applying the first coat, subsequent coats can be applied as normal.

Another advantage of this product is that it can be tinted using our compatible water based dyes. This could be useful, if for example, a piece has been stained or finished with a lacquer but the colour is not to your liking. Simply add some brown dye to the water lacquer and apply another coat until the right shade is achieved. Further adjustments can be made by adding red, orange, yellow or black if necessary.

At temperatures above 4 degrees C and below 28 degrees C, Extra Tough Water Lacquer will keep for at least a year. As with most water based products avoid temperatures below zero or the water content of the product can freeze!

This product is very easy to apply with a paint brush. Keep used paint brushes in warm water or methylated spirits immediately after use. If spraying apply a medium coat, heavy coats can increase the chances of orange peeling (see relevant info).

Spraying Information

Most spray systems can be used for this product but they can become blocked if this product is left inside, unused for extended periods. If this happens a spray through with warm water will normally do the trick but if not use an alcohol thinner or methylated spirit (Not white spirit).

Container Sizes and coverage

Approx 10 Square metres per litre depending on the temperature, amount applied and the type of wood being worked on.
500ml: Enough to cover about 2 side chairs.
1lt: Will cover a 2 door wardrobe or a large chest of drawers.
5lt: Will be enough for a floor, about 7mtrs x 4mtrs (23ft x 14ft approx) with 2 coats.
20lt: About enough for an area the size of a tennis court.

For any surface requiring ultimate protection or strong water repellancy.

Drying Time

A medium coat will be touch dry within 4 hours although the curing time is 12-24 hours (before the surface can be used).
