Fiddes Barrier Seal

Prepares your prewaxed or oiled floor for re-oiling.

Whether your floor is old, reclaimed or perhaps contaminated with grease, oil or wax then this product is the perfect way to prepare it for further coats of any wax or oil from our web site. For example these 2 products can be applied on top of the Barrier Seal: Hard Wax Oil or Liquid Floor Wax

Barrier Seal forms a microporous barrier preventing contamination but allowing the top coat to pass through it. It dries within 15 minutes at room temperature. If this product is being used on a hard wood such as beech it can perform better if thinned by around 10-15% with methylated spirits. Indeed brushes and other items can also be cleaned in methylated spirits.

Remove as much of the previous finish(es) as possible and if there is a large amount of oil etc in the wood then sanding may be necessary. Prior to application of the barrier Seal it is a good idea to clean the floor with a Floor Cleaner.

Once stirred apply a medium coat in the direction of the wood grain. Ideally work at room temperature.
