General conditions to determine if an overcoating of Bona Sportive Finish is possible
- Flooring surfaces to be coated must be completely clean and dry.
- Floors that have previously been treated with polishes, waxes or other similar products cannot be overcoated with Bona Sportive Finish
- It must be possible to overcoat the existing finish with Bona Sportive Finish, users are advised to check prior to applying the coating and to treat a small test area for results prior to the main application.
Bona cannot guarantee good adhesion when overcoating finishes of a brand other than Bona.
Bona Sportive Finish will normally have very good adhesion to most pre-finished floors, this said however, it is advisable to check the intercoat adhesion prior to overcoating. To check intercoat adhesion, apply a coat of Bona Sportive Finish to a pre-prepared area as described above i.e. sanded and clean. Allow the coating to set for 3 days then scratch the treated floor surface gently with a coin, if the Bona Sportive finish stays firmly attached to the surface, the adhesion is satisfactory and the main application can begin.
