Ronseal 10 Year Exterior Wood Paint has been specially formulated to ensure paintwork isn't spoiled due to changing weather conditions, making it perfect for outdoor projects where protection from the elements is a crucial factor.

Exterior timber must be clean, dry and free from surface dirt, dust and grease prior to painting.

Bare Wood

  1. Lightly sand the wood to remove any loose fibres and take care to remove all sanding dust by wiping down before painting
  2. Small surface dents, holes and other defects can be filled with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler
  3. Treat any wood knots with a suitable knotting solution, such as Barrettine Patent Knotting or Barrettine White Knotting.

Previously Painted Wood

  1. Remove traces of mould or algae with an appropriate mould and mildew cleaner and leave to fully dry before applying Ronseal satin paint
  2. Old paint that is cracking, peeling or flaking must be removed prior to application to ensure a sound base for the paint
  3. Existing paintwork in sound condition should be lightly sanded to provide a key
  4. Ensure the wood to be painted is clean after sanding by wiping down with white spirit to remove sanding dust and any other surface contaminates

Unsound Wood

  1. Areas of timber that are damaged should be repaired using Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler
  2. Rotten wood should be cut out and replaced with sound timber, then treat as bare wood

Once these steps have been carried out, apply 2 coats of Ronseal Super Flexible Wood Primer & Undercoat and allow to dry before applying Ronseal 10 Year Exterior Wood Paint Satin.

Always do a small test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Stir satin paint thoroughly before and during application to ensure a consistent finish. Allow good ventilation when applying Ronseal paint. Do not apply at temperatures below 10℃ or in high humidity.

  1. When using more than one tin, intermix before use to ensure an even colour
  2. Apply 2 coats of Weatherproof Exterior Wood Paint evenly with a good quality brush, working in the direction of the wood grain
  3. Apply the second coat after 4 hours in normal weather conditions
  4. Treat all exposed areas of the wood including the sides and end grain for maximum protection
  5. For best results, use lighter colours in areas exposed to high levels of sunlight

Please Note: The life of this product will vary depending on the paint colour and the type and condition of the timber or existing paintwork. A south facing position and the level of shade will also affect durability.

To maintain the finish, a fresh coat of Ronseal 10 Year Weatherproof Paint can be applied once annually, following the Preparation and Application instructions, paying special attention to the end grain.

Good quality product by MAp

Like most quality weather paints these days it is a little like painting with treacle because of the thickness but goes on well and gives good coverage. Pale when first applied but darkens slightly after a few days to the colour I was expecting

It's true it does exactly what it says on the tin! by IAN FITZPATRICK

Easy to apply and good coverage. Needs.more than one coat to give a proper finish. Opacity is great, so you won't need as much as you think.

Great so far by Matthew Bentham

As it's 10 year paint I can't really comment for another 9 years and 11 months, but so far it looks really good!

Extremely poor coverage by Micael Chalk

I live by sea and liked the idea of the 10yr bit but after seeing the result on the bottom panel of the door I went out and bought an Albany gloss that covered really well with one coat.

Works well by Rogerf

Read the tin and benefit from no primer wood painting; brushes clean with water and a promised long life. I wouldn't normally use it on top of regular paints but I do use it on its own or perhaps on a well scratched surface. The paint is not at all cheap but it is very convenient.

The Ronseal products purchased were excellent and the requested advice came back promptly by Trevor Moore

The products were easy to apply, the brush cleaning with water was a plus and the end result was very pleasing.

Looked great until it blistered in 2 places by Jason Godley

Ok, so I have done half of my eaves using Dulux Weathershield 10yr and half using Ronseal 10yr wood paints. The first thing I noticed is that the Ronseal paint was not as thick as Dulux, I prepped all wood the same with 2 layers of undercoat and the Ronseal paint blistered in 2 areas whereas the Dulux did not blister at all hence 3 stars. However, where paint has adhered it looks really good but I will use Dulux next time.
