Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment is perfect for all exterior wood, including log cabins, summer houses, sheds, fences and decking. Adds additional protection to wood that has been previously pressure treated or treated with an exterior wood preservative.

Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from loose dirt and other surface contaminants.

  1. Repellent coatings such as paints, varnishes and coating type stains must be fully removed by sanding or using a suitable exterior paint and varnish remover
  2. Sweep the surface with a stiff broom or brush to remove all traces of surface dirt, debris, mould, algae or fungi
  3. Treat areas affected by algae, mould and mildew with a Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner
  4. Applying 2 coats of Barrettine Premier Universal Preservative is recommended prior to using this product
  5. Allow the wood preservative a minimum of 48 hours to dry before applying Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment

Always do a small test area to confirm performance and compatibility before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times. Stir thoroughly prior to and during application to ensure a consistent finish.

  1. Decant in to a paint kettle or other suitable container
  2. Apply liberally, working the oil into the surface of the wood and brushing in the direction of the wood grain
  3. For best results apply to all external sides of log cabins, sheds and decking prior to construction
  4. Remove any excess surface oil to avoid extended drying times
  5. Normally, one coat applied liberally with a wide bristle brush is sufficient
  6. Should you apply a further second coat, it may be applied after 12-24 hours, depending on the type of wood
  7. Some hard / oily exotic hard woods such as Iroko, Teak, Idigbo and Cedar may only absorb 1 thin coat
  8. If desired, Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment may be applied by synthetic roller or sprayer, however you should always back brush to ensure even coverage
  9. For decking boards leave 24-48 hours before subjecting to heavy foot traffic

Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment can be easily maintained with an application of a thin maintenance coat as and when required, usually every couple of years or as a yearly maintenance program, by simply following the preparation and application sections above.

Perfect by Miss D Baker

This product was exactly what we needed but just couldn't find in the usual diy stores. Love the natural look of the end result and does what it's supposed to do when it rains! Would probably look at spraying it on though next year when the time comes to renew as I tended to treat my arm as well on the highest points of the cabin! Apart from that we are really pleased with the entire Wood Finishes Direct experience.

Just the job by COLIN WOOD

Hi, I built a new shed and was unsure what finish to apply until I found Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment after browsing the web Its early days yet but I'm pleased by how easy and quick the application was using brush and roller; I applied two coats and there was just enough to cover the 6' x 5' shed but I didn't skimp. Possibly next year I'll apply a further two coats for extra protection. I used clear and the timber colour is superb attracting lots of very complimentary comments. I've no hesitation at all in buying this product again. Kind regards, Colin.

I have applied this wood treatment, with both a brush and sprayer, with great success It goes on with no effort, soaking right into the wood, and leaving a ' dry to the touch' feel The rain, on contact, beads and runs straight off by Richard Hester

I am very pleased with the over all finish that the Barrettine Treatment for Log Cabins gives and will be re applying next year for good protective coverage.

Possibly a 4 star by Michael Stacey

Covers really well, although expensive the contents go a long way. Not sure how long until it needs redoing, and early days as yet. Gives the wood a deeper very pleasant hue. Don't know if it can be overcoated at a later date with ordinary wood protector (creosote type). See,s to be at least so far, waterproof.

Fantastic protection by Neil Lewis

I applied two coats of this finishing treatment over the Barrettine wood preserver I bought to go with it. Using a paint pad made the application really quick and simple and the finish is lovely. It's left the timber with a slight sheen which looks great and when the rain hits it it just seems to bounce off. I bought an additional can to use down the years as I want to make sure the finish stays this good.

Product does what it says on the tin by Gary Knight

Product covers really well, I have given my cabin three coats and used the clear product. It has slightly darkened the wood but it has given it a rich honey appearance. It certainly repels the water and I will use this product again.

After spending a lot of my hard earned cash on a man cave, I needed a top class finish on the wood to beat the weather. Found it with this product. An annual job, but well worth it. Now back to my man cave to watch sports.
