Before applying Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner, remove as much surface dirt, debris and organic growth as possible with a scraper, stiff brush or broom.
Always do a small test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
For maximum biological effectiveness it is recommended that Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner is applied to dry surfaces.
This product can be applied by brush, roller or re-used kitchen spray bottle at a rate of 5 to 10 meters square per litre, depending on how porous the surface to be treated is.
Only use Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner when the surface and ambient air temperature is above 5℃.
To maximise biocidal effect, follow same instructions as above, however leave for 24 hours to dry before washing off.
Fantastic product producing a clean surface to treat!
Needed to clean some very dirty decking - it was absolutely caked in thick black mould and hadn't been touched for about 10 years. Used the more concentrated dose of the product and left it on for about 20 hours. Bit of elbow grease and water and the decking is good as new. Can't ask for more really.
Works really well on all algae
This product worked really well. I was using it on an old railway sleeper that has been left outside for 100 odd years. It cleaned it up really well after two applications
Very straight forward to use with clear instructions - helped clean shed prior to applying a preserving product. Delivered extremely promptly.
It does effectively what I expected
Easy & quick to apply. Has done the job I required. Good advice from wood-finishes direct
Difficult to apply without splashing it but it did seem to be absorbed by the wood - time will tell how effective it is as a preservative
Good quality cleaner that has managed to clear a fair mount of build up but can't shift old mould.
Very good product
Used on Siberian larch to remove site dirt and surface mould. Cleaned majority of timber apart from well impregnated sap stain.
Applied this product to a fence using a car wheel brush, left it for an hour, rinsed down with water....job done. All green traces gone. Would use again.
Needs several coats and elbow grease !
This was used to make sure of no mould or mildew. I used the bit remaining on some green growth on a fence and it did the trick.
Upon WFD's recommendation I used this product to deep clean my 15 year old decking which I normally power-wash annually. However the power washing wasn't actually stopping the build up of algae which is so so slippery when wet. I applied according to the instructions using a Manns Decking Applicator (a sponge on a broomstick), left for 24 hours, then wetted and scrubbed by hand. I would not describe this as a simple, quick fix. It took hours of hard labour to scrub into the grain of the wood to dislodge the grime and algae, but the produce really did lift the muck out. You need to keep it wet, and keep wetting it for best results. I then used it on my wooden garden furniture - again a labour of love, but it does seem to lift ingrained green muck and leaves the wood looking fresh and clean.
Splash it on and it seems to kill of the growth. Time will tell if it lasts, but I am also putting on the preventative coats as well.
Easy to use and works
this product does kill mildew as described however it does leave the dead mildew residue. The bleach based type of killer does completly remove all traces
The Cleaner does do a great job of killing off the Mould and Mildew, but does require some scrubbing with an appropriate brush to remove and clean the surface.
To prevent the Mould coming back we would recommend a good quality Preservative. Please let me know if you need any help with which products to choose.
Kind regards Sam.
