Always do a test area before starting any project to test the suitability and final finish of this product. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the tin at all times. Stir well before use.

  1. Apply Flooring Oil with a cloth or paint brush in the direction of the wood grain
  2. Leave for 10 minutes to allow the oil to penetrate

Arrived quickly and did the job by T R Ashton

Works well. Easy to apply. Softwood floorboards soaked up loads and took 3 coats, but finish is fine. Had to buy a second can. Be aware of smelly fumes. Treating the floor just outside the bedroom just before bedtime was not a great idea.

2 coats worked well on old floorboards Finished with wax polish by Mr J N

Worked well on Victorian pine floorboards. I scrubbed them rather than sanding them, then wiped down with white spirit. Two coats of the oil brought out the rich colour and the patina of wear and tear that gives old boards their character. I then finished with liquid wax floor polish. I also used on new pine floorboards in the same house. It did not penetrate to the same extent and so even three coats did not look much, but it has provided a seal and a durable finish that again I have put wax polish over. Better than varnish and a very good price. It has a strong smell and good ventilation is important for a while after applying the oil.

Totally chuffed with the results! by Katherine Burton

I'd read the reviews on this floor oil beforehand, but still didn't dare let my expectations get too high. Well I was pleasantly surprised! I was more than happy with the finished result & it went on so easy. I don't know how long the parquet flooring had been hidden under carpets, but after sanding I applied two coats & it looked gorgeous!

Easy to use by Liana Guy

Very easy to use. Dried overnight. Applied two coats and buffed to soft gleam. Huge can, could do the whole house. Would be nice to have a smaller size suitable for just one room!

Excellent a little goes a long way by Jason Mckenna

This needs at least 2 coats but leaves a good finish. If you use a brush make sure you wipe the excess off with a cloth. We did a big kitchen floor with 3 coats and still have at least three quarters of the tin left. Would buy again.

Little goes a long way by Lynn Hoppenbrouwers

As other reviews - a little goes a long way - 2 generous coats on large(ish) lounge and still 1/2 tin left. Don't put too much on initially as the 'buffing' off can be hard work and make sure you have good ventilation! Difficult to avoid hand/feet marks when doing a large area but a quick 'touch-up' when dry gets rid of them - I used an old, clean floor buffer & tiny amounts of product on marks with good results.

Very good by J Simpson

apart from it taking me ages to work out how to get the lid off the tin (it was really obvious) I am very pleased with this product I used a four inch brush to apply it doing two boards at a time and then wiped off the excess with a cloth when I got to the end of a run. It really brought out the grain and the natural colour in the wood, it darkens the wood when it goes on but lightens as it dries. My one issue is that I didn't need the recommended 5l, a little went a really long way and my floor looked great after one coat, I probably only used about 2l on a 20 sq m floor, I will however use it again so I've at least got plenty spare!

A note from us...

Hello Mr Simpson,

Thank you for your reveiw, it sounds like your floor has come up beautifully. I would advice 2 coats of this product for the best protection but if you would like to stick with just one you can do a maintenance coat when you feel it needs a bit more protection.

For the product that you have left it will keep better if you can store it in a smaller container so there is less air it should last longer. And we always like to see photos of our customers projects.

Kind regards Sam.

Very good by Rutland Reclaimer

Great value, very good coverage and great finish. Used on freshly laid and sanded reclaimed cherry parquet, first coat started very dark but dried much paler. Second coat dried a little darker but with a nice satin to matte finish. Rather strong smell, but goes off over night. The 5l tin did 2 coats on 26m2 with about 1/3 of the tin left. Get the applicator and pad, makes a breeze of putting it down.

Great stuff - beautiful finish by Stuart G

Leading brand would have cost me 1.5 times as much! Lovely coverage, goes a long way. Make sure to remove excess if rolling, ideally use brush. Will darken wood, dries a touch lighter, wood looks alive!

This is a varnish not an oil by James Evans

The product is quite thisn which made it easy to apply. It dried patchily with one coat so I applied a second. It dried to a shiny varnished finish - not what I was expecting from something called "Oil". If you are looking for a good quality shiny varnish finish it is probably very good. I was looking for a softer matt finish that I would have expected with an oil.

A note from us...

Hi James,

Thank you for taking the time to fill in our survey and for the feedback about the finish of the product. This particular Floor Oil does have a Satin finish to it and will increase in shine with each layer of Oil that is applied.

If you feel that it is too shiny for you there is the possibility of putting a Matt finish Oil from an alternative range on top, that will reduce the shine that you currently have. You would need to do a test area first to see if the wood will take another coat of Oil and is not already saturated.

The best way to apply on wood floors is sparingly with a paint brush along the grain and leave to dry.
